In France, nearly 75 high schools now offer their students the opportunity to pass the code on their premises, after an intensive one-week course with driving school instructors, during the school holidays.

A formula developed by Codapagos that the Fénelon Notre-Dame high school, a private establishment under contract in La Rochelle, has chosen to offer to its students, with the aim of facilitating their professional integration.

How long did it take you to pass your highway code?

Between registering at a driving school or using a training application, and passing the exam, the road is long!

Difficult to motivate yourself, to free up time, particularly during studies... Which then delays getting your license.

The most effective is therefore to validate this exam before the baccalaureate.

More and more high schools are offering courses, on their premises, with driving instructors, during school holidays.

An intensive one-week course, with access to an application developed by Codapagos for training.

The exam is then taken on Friday, at the end of the internship, within the high school.

“It’s useful but it’s still young”: what do young people think of lowering the driving license to 17?

Students motivated to pass the code quickly

“I have priority at the next intersection… Yes, answer A, no, answer B,” announces a neutral voice in a video projected on the board, which brings back memories.

The answers must be written on a paper grid or on a smartphone via an application.

What is less classic, however, is that this scene does not take place in a driving school, but in a high school!

Around thirty students aged between 16 and 17 listen in their classroom to the explanations of Marie-Laure, instructor.

“We really have very good groups teaching at the high school,” she confides.

“The young people participate without shame, ask questions… They are motivated and show that they want to succeed,” adds this trainer.

73% exam pass rate

For a passage from the code to high school with Codapagos, the success rate is 73%, compared to 56% nationally.

And the establishment does not spend a cent on this operation explains Christian Bouchet, deputy director of the high school.

“Out of 900 high school students, we have 200 who take it each year,” he says.

“And it costs 180 euros per student, to follow the course and train via the application. So, I would say that it is 40% cheaper than in a traditional driving school,” continues the deputy director of Fénelon Our Lady.

“It meets a real need, families want it to happen quickly.”

For Lola, 16, it is indeed an essential time saver.

“We can go directly to accompanied or supervised driving,” she notes.

And above all, we are cleared before entering higher education.
