The National Police have arrested in Salou (Tarragona) one of the fugitives most wanted by the French authorities, the

alleged leader of a drug trafficking clan in Marseille

who is accused of drug trafficking, illicit possession of weapons, crimes against order and public safety and membership in a criminal organization.

The fugitive had a European Arrest and Surrender Order (OEDE) issued by France in force, and for these crimes he would face a sentence of ten years in prison.

The investigation to find his whereabouts began last year when, through the French Liaison Officer in Spain, it was learned of the escape of this alleged leader of

a criminal drug trafficking clan

that operated in the main commercial points of Marseilles.

It was also learned that he regularly exported cannabis from Spain and that he had a large arsenal of weapons of war to carry out his activity.

The fugitive fled a police operation that took place in March in France and resulted in numerous arrests and searches.

The difficulty in locating him lay, among other things, in the fact that the detainee used up to four false identities and had a wide support network.

The progress of the investigation allowed the fugitive to be located in Tarragona, where it was learned that he, sporadically, met with family and friends who visited him from France.

Finally, and after numerous efforts, he was located in a bar located in the town of Salou where he was arrested.
