  • Politics Mayor Jaume Collboni (PSC) agrees with ERC in Barcelona and directs his first budgets despite depending on Colau

  • Municipal Jaume Collboni will create a 'night mayor' in Barcelona, a position that he would hand over to Junts or to Ada Colau's 'communes'

"Barcelona will have a budget in spring, it was my commitment and I will fulfill it."

Mayor

Jaume Collboni

today expressed his conviction that he will be able to approve his accounts at the municipal plenary session on

March 22

.

After having reached an agreement this week with

Esquerra Republicana

, the socialist leader has made "a call for responsibility" to

Barcelona en Comú

, the party led by

Ada Colau

and with whom the PSC shared Government in the last term and part of the previous one. .

The former mayor yesterday reproached her successor for "renouncing a broad and stable progressive pact", since the

commons

demand that the negotiations go further and be associated with the formation of a

tripartite

Executive that will gain an absolute majority in the

City hall

.

"In these 250 days of mandate, we have shown that we are capable of articulating agreements, preferably with progressive groups because that is our tradition and our political identity," said Collboni this morning at the extraordinary council of the

PSC Federation of Barcelona

.

Even so, he has recalled that he "will talk to everyone" and will not stick "exclusively" to his former associates.

The mayor has highlighted that his budget project is "the highest in the history of the city" (

3.8 billion euros

) and the most social (with items of

438 million

).

Furthermore, he highlighted that the public accounts have a record investment of

950 million

in one year, a figure that, "to see its magnitude", he compared with that of the capital of Spain: "It is double that of the

Madrid City Council

, whose budget doubles that of Barcelona".

Drought

The socialist councilor has also announced an

extraordinary fund of four million euros

, in charge of municipal accounts, so that the city's public and private sports facilities can adapt to the restrictions due to the drought.

Collboni has taken advantage of this point to point out that the Generalitat is "responsible" for the current situation derived from the water shortage due to "the lack of investments during the last decade, in which the Government was focused on other things."
