It was in a large hotel in Conakry and in the presence of many intellectuals including former prime ministers and ministers that Lamine Kamara was honored.
The Center for Innovation and Research for Development (CIRD) paid him this tribute during his lifetime.
Former Prime Minister
François Louncény Fall
looks back on memories that marked him.
“
A young intellectual, promoted to a bright future, Lamine Kamara was brutally arrested, unjustly, in the most difficult conditions.
Lamine Kamara has recreated these fiery years in a work that I have read and reread several times with fear
.”
Lamine Kamara is notably the author of
Under the Locks of the Revolution
(2012), an autobiographical story in which he recounts the prisons of the Sékou Touré regime, and of
Safrin or the duel with the whip
(1991), a novel illustrating Mandinka culture.

For Bailo Téliwel Diallo, former Minister of Higher Education and Scientific Research, Lamine Kamara must have known during his lifetime the thoughts that inhabit Guineans.
“
Lamine Kamara is our teacher, (and he has) a very emblematic career of the Guinean intellectual, I would even say of the Guinean itself: both very luminous, very creative, even historical summits, dramas, tragedies in which some lost their lives
.”
Touched by so many honors, Lamine Kamara did not hide his satisfaction.
“
Celebrating someone during their lifetime, I believe that I am the first to benefit from this, so I greatly thank the organizer who took the initiative, Ms. Safiatou Diallo.
But, I think it’s a good thing if it fits into our traditions
…”.
The hope of Lamine Kamara, a recognized intellectual, is to see future generations take over.
