South Africa: ANC show of force in Durban around Ramaphosa

In South Africa, the ruling party launched its campaign for the general elections on May 29.

The African National Congress took over the Moses Mabhida Stadium in Durban to present its program to more than 50,000 faithful.

The ANC goes on campaign with President Cyril Ramaphosa as its candidate for re-election.

The head of state's mission will be to restore hope to an electoral base which is eroding and which threatens his party to lose the majority for the first time in its history.

By filling this stadium, the ANC showed that it should not be buried too quickly.

The ANC is interested in the poor first

,” he said.

The massive recourse to social assistance can also be explained by the bankruptcies of the ANC government.

Too many people are unemployed, too many people live in poverty, President Cyril Ramaphosa admitted.

“

Our quest for a South Africa built according to the aspirations of our population,”

explains the Head of State, “

is far from being completed.

As Nelson Mandela said, we still have many hills to climb.

The head of state wants to be optimistic and sees his party governing for another 30 years.

This is the age of Senamile Mlotswa, who prefers to remain cautious: “

I am thinking of giving them my vote for the first time and it will also be their last chance.

According to polls, many voters are turning away from the ANC.

But with this large gathering, the ruling party thinks it has proven the opposite.
