A man indicted in Lyon after a brawl leading to death

A person was indicted after a brawl which resulted in the death of a man in his thirties on Thursday in Lyon, in circumstances that are still unclear, the prosecutor's office said on Saturday.

“At the end of his presentation yesterday evening before the investigating judge, the person referred to the prosecution was indicted by the investigating judge” and placed in pre-trial detention, explained the public prosecutor.

The man, arrested and placed in police custody on Thursday, is accused in the context of a judicial investigation for "intentional violence in a meeting leading to death without intention of causing it, failure to assist a person in danger, theft aggravated, prohibited carrying of a category D weapon.

An open investigation

During the night from Wednesday to Thursday, a brawl between several individuals occurred in the Guillotière district (7th arrondissement), in the center of Lyon, on the east bank of the Rhône.
