Between Algeria and Mauritania, the launch of new projects to strengthen their partnership

The Algerian and Mauritanian presidents are strengthening ties between their two countries: Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Mohamed Ould Ghazouani inaugurated, on February 22, 2024, two fixed border posts and announced the launch of the road project between Tindouf, in Algeria, and Zouerate, in Mauritania.

The two heads of state also laid the first stone of a future free trade zone.

The Algerian and Mauritanian heads of state were this Thursday at the border of their two countries.

They inaugurated two fixed border posts, thus announcing the launch of the road project linking Tindouf in Algeria to Zouerate in Mauritania.

Abdelmadjid Tebboune and Mohamed Ould Ghazouani also laid the first stone of the free trade zone located near the border post on the Algerian side.

One more step to tighten the cord between the two countries linked by a “

The kick-off is given for the start of the work.

The road linking Tindouf to Zouerate is 840 kilometers long.

It will allow Algerian operators to access African markets,

Mauritania.

According to the Algerian Press Agency (APS), the border post on the Algerian side has all the necessary amenities and should “ 

establish an economic dynamic

 ” between the two countries.

As for the free zone, it will constitute a link in terms of commercial and industrial exchanges between Algeria and the countries of West Africa, where the volume of imports and exports is recording significant development. .

Algeria under President Tebboune has moved towards a proactive non-hydrocarbon export policy.

The Algerian head of state yesterday stressed the need to boost investment and trade between the two nations.

He gave the example of sugar and oil that Algeria could export to Mauritania in the future.

Furthermore, there are five free zone projects that Algeria wishes to build on the border with its neighbors.

The one with Mauritania is the first to be implemented.
