An opinion poll published by the Israeli newspaper "Maariv" on Friday showed that the State Camp party, led by Israeli War Council member Benny Gantz, would win 39 seats in the Knesset (Parliament) if elections were held today, which means that the party would constitute the first electoral force.

The poll showed that the ruling Likud Party will obtain only 18 seats in the Knesset, and the ruling coalition parties will lose their parliamentary majority by obtaining 44 seats, compared to 71 seats for the opposition parties.

According to the poll, National Security Minister Itamar Ben Gvir will increase his party's number of seats in the Knesset to 10, while Finance Minister Bezalel Smotrich will fail to cross the electoral threshold.

48% of respondents expressed that Gantz is most suitable to lead the government, while 32% believe that current Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu is most suitable.

Since the beginning of the war on the Gaza Strip on October 7, opinion polls have shown a decline in Netanyahu's popularity and Gantz's lead, amid increasing divisions in the Israeli war government.

Thousands of Israelis demonstrate weekly throughout Israel, demanding the resignation of the current government headed by Netanyahu, and the holding of early elections.

Since the Battle of Al-Aqsa Flood on October 7, Netanyahu has also been subjected to many criticisms from the opposition and former officials and military personnel, who accused him of failing to manage the government and the war on the Gaza Strip.

The Israeli newspaper Yedioth Ahronoth said at the beginning of this year that Netanyahu fears that growing frustration with him among his Likud party will lead to a joint move with the opposition parties to oust him.
