South Africa: “the ship of death” and its 19,000 mistreated animals has left the city of Cape Town

The boat came from Brazil and stopped at Cape Town.

Upon boarding, the authorities discovered cows living in their excrement, among the dead or sick animals.

The stench spread throughout the city.

The associations denounce the disgraceful conditions of this type of livestock transport.

Although the stopover in Cape Town offered them a short respite, the animals were not out of the woods.

It is a cruise of horror that continues for these animals in distress, forced to live on beds of excrement.

The

Al Kuwait

boat left for Iraq where the cows will undergo a ritual slaughter, hence the need to transport them alive... or almost.

While stopping in Cape Town harbor to refuel, the boat exposed itself to inspection.

Animal protection associations and veterinarians spent three days on this boat from hell.

To treat cows or to euthanize them.

However, it was impossible to clean this unsanitary boat loaded with dung and carcasses: the dumping of this waste would have posed a pollution problem in the port of Cape Town, already inconvenienced by the pestilential odor which spread throughout the city, like the smell of wastewater treatment plant.

The boat therefore returned to sea, where it should dump its slurry, before reaching Iraq.

This incident is a stark reminder that the export of live animals by sea is a horrible and outdated practice,

” responded the Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals, which released photos of the interior of the boat to support his remarks.
