China News Service, United Nations, February 22: The United Nations Security Council held a public meeting on the Palestinian-Israeli issue on the 22nd.

Zhang Jun, China's Permanent Representative to the United Nations, emphasized at the meeting that the core of the Security Council's actions on the Palestinian-Israeli issue must be the immediate realization of a ceasefire.

Zhang Jun said that two days ago, because the United States exercised its veto power, the Security Council once again missed the opportunity to promote a ceasefire in Gaza.

Achieving an immediate ceasefire in Gaza is an urgent requirement to save innocent lives and prevent a wider war.

An immediate ceasefire is the universal call of the international community and the overwhelming consensus of the members of the Security Council.

China has noticed that the United States has proposed a new draft resolution and hopes that the United States will adopt a responsible attitude, comply with the calls of the international community, and respect the existing consensus of Security Council members.

The core of the Security Council's actions must be to achieve an immediate ceasefire, and the relevant signals must be clear, clear and unmistakable, instead of being evasive and secretive.

What the Security Council needs at this time is strong determination, not just negotiation skills.

Zhang Jun said that it has been more than four months since the conflict in Gaza broke out.

It is the responsibility of the Security Council to put the brakes on before a greater disaster.

He pointed out that the military offensive against Rafah must be stopped immediately, sufficient humanitarian aid must be ensured to enter Gaza without hindrance, all efforts must be made to prevent the conflict from spilling over, and the political prospects of the "two-state solution" must be revived.

Zhang Jun said that more than 1.5 million Gazans were forced to gather in Rafah, and Israel's escalation of military attacks on Rafah will cause unimaginable civilian casualties and humanitarian disasters, and cause irreparable damage to regional peace. China is firmly opposed to this.

Israel should immediately cancel its attack plan on Rafah and stop collective punishment of the Palestinian people.

The ICJ requires that interim measures orders to prevent genocide be effectively implemented.

Zhang Jun said that millions of Gazans lack basic survival supplies.

Security Council resolutions 2712 and 2720 must be fully implemented.

Israel must take concrete actions to open all land, sea and air channels into Gaza, provide necessary conditions for humanitarian agencies to carry out rescue operations, and ensure the safety of personnel and facilities of humanitarian relief agencies.

Zhang Jun said that currently, the Middle East is turbulent, with the escalation of fighting between Lebanon and Syria, ongoing tensions in the Red Sea, and the shadow of wider war hanging over the Middle East.

China calls on all parties, especially those with important influence, to remain calm and restrained and avoid actions that would aggravate tensions.

All parties must work hard to eliminate war through peace and break the vicious cycle of violence for violence and repeated conflicts.

Zhang Jun said that the establishment of an independent Palestinian state is not a "gift" given by anyone, but an inalienable national right of the Palestinian people.

Some Israeli politicians have recently publicly rejected the "two-state solution" and any international efforts to achieve an independent Palestinian state. China expresses serious concern about this.

The "two-state solution" is the bottom line of international justice and the only feasible way to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli issue.

China urges Israel to immediately stop eroding the foundation of the "two-state solution", stop forced transfers of Palestinian people, and stop searches, arrests and attacks in the West Bank.

The historical injustice suffered by Palestine must be corrected, and Palestine's long-cherished wish for an independent state must be realized.
