While farmers maintain pressure on the government by increasing actions in the regions, Minister Olivia Grégoire announced this Thursday morning that she wants to establish an "origin score" in Europe by 2025. Inspired by the nustricore indicator, it must push manufacturers to increase their share of French products in their recipes.
This is a new announcement from the government to respond to the anger of farmers.
The Minister Delegate for Small and Medium Enterprises Olivia Grégoire announced this Thursday morning the launch of an origin score index by the summer.

A non-obligatory device
This indicator should allow consumers to better understand the origin of a product's ingredients.
With this Origin Score, the government wants to push manufacturers to increase the share of French products in their recipes.
The only problem is that it will not be mandatory.
Initially, its implementation will be done solely on a voluntary basis.
If it is successful, "those who do not display it will be suspect in the eyes of customers", maintains Olivia Grégoire's office.
In the longer term, the government wishes to make this system compulsory at European level with common rules for all products sold in the European Union.
This generalization could be made as early as 2025 when the European regulation is revised.
