Thursday's operation carried out by Palestinians at a military checkpoint near the Maale Adumim settlement, east of occupied Jerusalem, indicates the tension witnessed in the West Bank and the Holy City, especially since the start of the devastating Israeli war on the Gaza Strip.
An Israeli soldier was killed in the attack and 8 others were injured with varying injuries.
The occupation police said that they killed two of the perpetrators of the attack, and that 3 of the wounded Israelis were in serious condition.

February 16, 2024:
A shooting attack took place in Kiryat Malachi, east of Ashdod, resulting in the killing of two Israelis and the wounding of 4 others, including serious injuries. The perpetrator, Fadi Jamjoum, was martyred by occupation fire. He is from the Shuafat camp, north of occupied Jerusalem.
February 8, 2024:
A Palestinian opened fire on the Israeli occupation forces in the town of Deir Sharaf, northwest of the city of Nablus in the West Bank, and was martyred at the scene.
January 7, 2024:
One or more gunmen carried out a double shooting attack at Wadi Uyun al-Haramiyya, north of the city of Ramallah, resulting in the killing of a Palestinian and the serious wounding of a Palestinian doctor, residents of Ramallah and Jerusalem. Both of them carried Israeli ID cards and drove vehicles with Israeli license plates.
December 28, 2023:
A Palestinian from Sur Baher was martyred by occupation soldiers’ fire at the Mazmoria checkpoint, south of occupied Jerusalem, after stabbing a female soldier and an Israeli security guard.
December 15, 2023:
The occupation forces shot a young Palestinian man at the Huwwara military checkpoint south of the city of Nablus in the West Bank, under the pretext of an attempt to stab one of the soldiers at the checkpoint, without causing casualties among his forces.
While Palestinian sources confirmed to Al Jazeera that the occupation forces prevented families and ambulance crews from reaching the young man, and detained him after he was injured.
November 30, 2023:
Two Israelis were killed and 7 others were injured in an armed attack targeting a bus stop at the northwestern entrance to Jerusalem.
Two Palestinian youths from the town of Sur Baher in occupied Jerusalem were martyred.
November 16, 2023:
An Israeli was killed and 5 soldiers were injured in an armed attack carried out by 3 Palestinian youths from the city of Hebron, at the tunnel checkpoint south of Jerusalem and west of Bethlehem.
It was announced that the perpetrators of the operation were killed by occupation bullets.
Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving tens of thousands of victims, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and a noticeable deterioration in infrastructure and property, according to Palestinian and UN data.
In conjunction with that fierce war, Israel strengthened its security grip and military operations in the cities and towns of the occupied West Bank, which resulted in the martyrdom and wounding of hundreds of Palestinians, and the arrest of thousands of others.
