At the time, the young woman was only 18 years old and very quickly, the relationship between them became complicated. She is an extremely jealous companion. One day, she tries to attack him with a knife. While Giraud wants to break up, the young woman tells him that she is pregnant and the couple finally moves in together. Some time after the birth of their daughter, the couple finally decided to separate. Over the years, conflicts, particularly around child custody, increase. On January 23, 2004, while Giraud went to his ex's home to pick up his daughter, then aged five, the young mother's new companion attacked her in the head with a flashlight.
