A copy of the appeal addressed to the Minister of Natural Resources and Ecology of Russia Alexander Kozlov is at the disposal of RT.

As Korniets noted, the country traditionally sees an increase in demand for purchasing flowers on the eve of International Women's Day.

“Unfortunately, the life of these bouquets is very short - a rare bouquet will last more than a week before it goes into the trash. Meanwhile, even a wilted bouquet is a natural resource that can be beneficial,” said RT’s interlocutor.

In his opinion, wilted flowers, for example, can be used as fertilizer, and instead of recycling these bouquets, as a rule, are sent to the nearest garbage containers.

“I ask you to evaluate the idea of test implementation of the practice of reusing and recycling wilted bouquets in large cities of our country. For example, in Moscow, St. Petersburg or another large city with a population of one million, it would be possible to install several specialized containers for such bouquets in agreement with local agricultural or environmental organizations,” the text of the appeal says.

According to RT’s interlocutor, this practice will help develop environmental thinking among compatriots, and will also help extract additional benefits from the waste recycling mechanism.

Earlier, Korniets proposed introducing a complete ban on keeping predatory and exotic animals in apartment buildings, and also called for tougher penalties for organizing apartment “shelters” and “nurseries.”
