Earlier, the State Duma of Russia in the first reading adopted a bill prohibiting Russian citizens and companies from placing advertisements on the websites of foreign agents, on their social networks and on other Internet platforms.

Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin clarified that the ban applies to websites, blogs, and social networks. In addition, the bill prohibits advertising in the media of the resources of foreign agents themselves. 

The head of the State Duma Security Committee, Vasily Piskarev, said that quoting foreign agents in the media will be considered a violation if done for advertising purposes.
