Reports that Palestinian women and girls were subjected to blatant Israeli violations in Gaza and the West Bank (Anatolia)

On Monday, international human rights experts called for an independent investigation into Israeli violations committed against Palestinian women and girls in the Gaza Strip and the West Bank, a call that was met with an angry reaction from Israel, which rejected what it considered “despicable and baseless allegations.”

The UN experts expressed their concern about allegations of blatant violations against Palestinian women and girls, including murder, rape and sexual assault, and pointed to reports that women and girls were subjected to arbitrary execution and premeditated killing, along with their family members, including children, in places where they were seeking safety or during their displacement. .

Human rights activists pointed to the arbitrary detention of hundreds of Palestinian women, including human rights defenders, journalists, and humanitarian workers in Gaza and the West Bank since October 7, as many were subjected - according to reports - to inhuman and degrading treatment, severe beatings, and were deprived of access to food and medicine. And necessary sanitary pads during menstruation.

In their statement, they expressed sorrow over reports of Palestinian female prisoners being subjected to multiple forms of sexual assault, such as being stripped and searched by male soldiers in the Israeli army. They also called for an independent, impartial, urgent, comprehensive and effective investigation into the allegations, and for Israel’s cooperation with the investigations.

The Israeli mission in Geneva was quick to denounce the statement, describing it as “merely despicable and baseless allegations, considering that the experts are motivated by their hatred for Israel, and not by the truth.”

The mission said that the Israeli authorities had not received any complaints, but were prepared to investigate any "concrete allegations of misconduct by its security forces whenever they are accompanied by credible allegations and evidence."
