“During a special military operation, cases of the use of American chemical munitions by the Armed Forces of Ukraine were recorded,” he noted.

According to him, on December 28, 2023, on December 28, 2023, in the Krasnolimansk direction, American-made gas grenades filled with the “CS” substance were dropped from UAVs of the Ukrainian Armed Forces onto the positions of Russian troops. This substance is irritating to the eyes and upper respiratory tract, and in high concentrations can cause skin burns, respiratory paralysis and cardiac arrest.

“The very fact of the supply of such ammunition by the United States in a military conflict is a violation of Article I of the Convention, which obliges the State Party (quote) “...never and under any circumstances to transfer, directly or indirectly, chemical weapons to anyone,” - noted Kirillov.

As a representative of the Russian Ministry of Defense emphasized, Ukraine has used chemical weapons many times. For example, she used hand grenades containing irritant chemicals labeled Teren-6 in April 2023, and in late January of this year used an unknown toxic chemical that resulted in upper respiratory tract burns, nausea and vomiting.

“Based on the results of the research, the presence of a toxic substance, anthraquinone, was established, which has a pronounced toxic effect and causes blindness, impaired liver and kidney function. In the European Union countries, anthraquinone is prohibited due to its carcinogenic effect,” Kirillov clarified.

Also, on June 15, 2023, the Ukrainian Armed Forces dropped a container containing a mixture of chloroacetophenone and chloropicrin in the area of the village of Rabotino, Zaporozhye region.

“While the first compound is classified as a riot control chemical, chloropicrin is included in Schedule 3 of the Chemical Weapons Convention and is prohibited for use even for law enforcement purposes. Repeated cases of the use of ammunition filled with chloropicrin were recorded in the area of the Rabotino settlement on August 3 and 11, 2023,” he added.

In November 2023, Kirillov stated that the Ukrainian Armed Forces used chemical weapons to poison food 17 times during the military offensive.
