For two years, hundreds of reservist police officers have been trained in the profession. The idea is to be able to count on a pool of mobilizable forces. Very useful, as security will be reinforced throughout the duration of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris. Europe 1 went to the Lognes training center, in Seine-et-Marne.

The national police constitute its operational reserve. The idea is to be able to count on a pool of mobilizable forces as is the case with the gendarmerie or the firefighters. Especially since security will be reinforced throughout the duration of the Olympic and Paralympic Games in Paris. For this, hundreds of reservist police officers have been trained for two years at the Lognes training center, in Seine-et-Marne.

“They are considered police officers in their own right”

After theory, it's time for practice. The student police officers learn how to carry out a pat-down and if the situation requires it, the reservists can, like the regulars, go further in the arrest: "So, it is quite obvious that in four or five weeks of training, it "is difficult", explains Stéphane, trainer in intervention safety techniques. “This is why, like other regular civil servants, they follow training, refresher courses, regulatory shooting sessions. They are considered as full-fledged police officers.”

Paris 2024 Olympics: up to 1,900 euros bonus for police officers and gendarmes involved in the event

The rest takes place about fifteen kilometers away, at the Chessy police station, still in Seine-et-Marne. Among the recruits, we find Pauline and Éric, two aspiring police officers with very different profiles: “I am a high-level athlete and I dedicate most of my time to kayaking,” explains Pauline. “I’m in aeronautics, I’m an industrial pilot, so on military projects.” On the other hand, their motivations are identical. “I am someone who is very attached to respecting the rules and helping others is one of the noblest values,” she says.

As for Eric, he has “always defended our law enforcement. This is the opportunity to join the ranks”. And it will perhaps be done this summer to provide reinforcement during the Paris 2024 Olympic Games.
