The leader of the National Rally will attend the pantheonization of Missak Manouchian this Wednesday. In an interview with the newspaper l'Humanité, Emmanuel Macron nevertheless argued that "the far-right forces would be inspired not to be present, given the nature of Manouchian's fight"

Marine Le Pen will participate in Missak Manouchian's entry ceremony into the Pantheon on Wednesday, her entourage said on Monday, despite the reservations of Emmanuel Macron who estimated that "the far-right forces would be inspired not to be present". By denouncing "the outrageous remarks of the President of the Republic", the president of the RN group in the National Assembly, invited in her capacity, indicated that she fully intended to go "to the ceremony of solemn homage to the Nation" to Missak Manouchian.

The head of state had nevertheless argued that "the far-right forces would be inspired not to be present, given the nature of Manouchian's fight", on Sunday, in an interview with

Who was Missak Manouchian, symbol of the Resistance who will enter the Pantheon?

Comparing the ceremony with the tribute to Robert Badinter, where the elected representatives of the RN were absent at the request of the family, the President of the Republic estimated that "the spirit of decency, the relationship with history should lead them to make a choice".

“A serious political mistake”

The ukase provoked the ire of the National Rally: “Emmanuel Macron commits a serious political mistake and, more serious, an unforgivable moral mistake,” the party with the flame published Monday morning on X. The RN mayor of Perpignan, Louis Aliot, had already considered Monday morning on TF1 that his party had its place at the ceremony of entry into the Pantheon of the communist activist, considering that he had "no reason to retreat on these subjects- there".

“Pantheonization reveals the sacred, ultimately republican character of the character, and (it) is addressed to all French people, whatever their origin, their condition or their opinions,” he added.

Missak Manouchian and 23 of his comrades in arms will enter the Pantheon on Wednesday, an “act of recognition” of communist and foreign resistance to the Nazi occupier. The national secretary of the Communist Party, Fabien Roussel, also said he was in favor of the members of the RN renouncing their participation in the ceremony, Monday on RTL, referring Marine Le Pen to "her ascendants" who, "in the "history", according to him "contributed to the shooting" of those to whom the Republic must pay homage.
