Five days before the opening of the Agricultural Show, the mobilization of farmers is regaining strength. Determined to make themselves heard and above all to maintain pressure on the government, they are still waiting for the promises made by the government to be translated into action.

Farmers about to get back on track? Several weeks after driving their tractors to the gates of Paris, to express their dissatisfaction, the operators intend to reinvigorate their mobilization which had pushed the government to release an emergency fund of 400 million euros. They are counting on the Agricultural Show, which will open its doors next weekend, to once again shine the spotlight on their movement.

The European Commission, for its part, adopted the derogation from the rule of 4% of land which must be kept fallow. She also proposed - which was expected by farmers - safeguard measures to limit imports from Ukraine.

A press conference planned for Wednesday in Matignon

Paris, for its part, has submitted decrees to the Council of State, but all this takes time. Too much time, assures Arnaud Rousseau, president of the FNSEA. "On the livestock measure, for example, which concerns cattle, on fiscal and social issues. We are told that implementation will take place in 2025, there is no question of it! It's 2024, that's the "commitment of the Prime Minister. So it has to be put in place", insisted the union leader this Monday morning on Europe 1 and CNews.

The executive seems aware that it must accelerate. Last week, Gabriel Attal received the FNSEA and the Young Farmers while Emmanuel Macron, for his part, spoke with the other agricultural unions. The Head of State must, in turn, meet the FNSEA on Tuesday afternoon. A press conference will be held on Wednesday in Matignon.
