“This is a defining moment for our generation. If we don't show determination, we will be considered weak. And as history has shown, weakness does not lead to peace,” he wrote in his column for Politico.

According to him, any European country will hardly be able to resist Russia alone.

“But when we are united, we are invincible,” Karis said.

He also called on European countries to strengthen their support for Ukraine. 

Earlier, a member of the Estonian parliament from the opposition Conservative People's Party, Leo Kunnas, proposed using anti-personnel mines in the construction of defensive structures near the border with Russia.
