Boycott call from truck-driving Trump supporters: “Boycott NYC”

Truck drivers who support former US President Donald Trump have called for a boycott of the city of New York, the news magazine Independent reports. They want to express their dissatisfaction with a sentence that a New York court had imposed on the ex-president.

“Truckers are (95%) Trump,” wrote user Chicago1Ray on X, formerly Twitter. "I've been talking to drivers over the radio for the last hour," said the user in a video message that shows him wearing sunglasses and a Trump cap. Truckers would begin to stop delivering goods to New York City on Monday. »I don't know how widely this call will spread in the country or how many truckers will join. But I’ll tell you what: you’re going to fucking find out.”

The video appears to have attracted some attention. As of Sunday morning, the hashtag “Boycott NYC” had been mentioned in more than 13,000 posts on X.

The reason for the truckers' anger is the recent court ruling against Trump, which sentenced the former US President to pay more than 350 million dollars (around 325 million euros) in New York. Trump was also banned from running companies in New York state for three years.

“How about a three-year boycott of the state?”

“You banned President Trump from doing business in New York for three years,” another user also wrote on X and suggested: “How about a three-year boycott of the state?”

After the judge's verdict, Trump himself once again lashed out sharply against the public prosecutor's office and the judge and spoke of "hypocrisy." The entire process was part of a “witch hunt” against him ordered by his successor Joe Biden, the 77-year-old Republican claimed last Friday. He will appeal and win.
