Absolute failure for Sumar, who is left out of the Galician Parliament with a very poor result

(1.89%)

and a world away from having representation. Yolanda Díaz fails miserably in the first regional incursion of her new political force and she does so, to even more pain, in her own homeland, where she has personally invested herself. Thus, the Galician elections cast serious doubts on the territorial implementation that awaits this renewed project of the alternative left and points to a huge political problem: feeding the pro-independence forces is creating monsters that then devour them. The

BNG

has gobbled up Sumar's space and swept them off the map - as it did with

Unidas Podemos

in 2020, which also ran out of seats. Well, the panorama in the Basque Country can be repeated with

EH Bildu

.

Another lesson learned from these elections is the high cost of division in this political space. Sumar and Podemos went separately and, with their pride ahead of them, they each crashed against a wall on their own. If the result of Díaz's party is calamitous, that of Podemos is ridiculous, with 0.26% of the votes cast. Pacma is above (0.36%) and White Seats (0.16%) are about 1,400 votes away from chasing the purple ones.

Podemos barely gets a thousand votes more than the number of militants who voted in the consultation in which the pre-agreement to go with Sumar was overturned. It is true that even united in that truncated alliance it would not have been enough to win a seat.

The disaster for Sumar and Podemos threatens to intensify the permanent war they are waging and which does not favor a pact for the Basques either. Meanwhile, the data speaks for itself. Sumar's failure is so resounding that even Vox is above it - an extra-parliamentary force with zero implementation. On the other hand, Sumar had just won two seats and 11% of the vote in July. From those 175,800 ballots it has been increased to about 27,500. That voter preferred to take refuge in the BNG.

Marta Lois stopped being Sumar's spokesperson in Congress to be a candidate for the Xunta. Now she is left composed and without a seat. In La Coruña, Sumar sinks by 2.2% and in Pontevedra, by 2.4%. Vice President Díaz loses her golden streak and Sumar must reflect on where she is going.
