A dozen people have been poisoned

, including one person who has been hospitalized with a mild prognosis, due to

excess chlorine

in the Daoiz y Velarde municipal pool in the Retiro district of Madrid.

According to Emergencies Madrid, around 11:00 a.m. the notice was received that

several users were showing symptoms of poisoning

. According to this source, these people have suffered respiratory irritation after inhaling vapors apparently generated by a chemical mixture.

Those affected have been treated by the Municipal Emergency Assistance Service-Civil Protection (Samur-PC) and one of them has been transferred to a hospital, although he is not seriously injured, according to Emergencies.

the maintenance technicians would have produced a very toxic and corrosive cloud that has affected the users and workers of the facility.

The pool has been closed since midday. The Madrid City Council Firefighters have proceeded to ventilate the entire pool space to empty it of toxicity, Emergencies said.
