According to a CSA survey for Europe 1 – CNews and JDD, 42% of French people believe that the treatment of information by French journalists and media is rather neutral. 29% consider it more to the left and 29% more to the right.

The Council of State ordered Arcom, the media regulator, to further control the CNews television channel "in matters of pluralism and independence of information", after an appeal filed by Reporters Without Borders. According to a CSA survey for Europe 1 – CNews and JDD, 42% of French people believe that the treatment of information by French journalists and media is rather neutral. 29% consider it more to the left and 29% more to the right.

The same observation according to age

In detail, of the men questioned, 37% believe that the media treatment is rather neutral, 32% believe that it is more to the left and finally 31% that it is more to the right. As for women, the proportion of respondents who find it rather neutral is higher at 46%.

A fairly similar observation when it comes to the age group of those questioned since 36% of those under 35 find the treatment of information by French journalists and media rather neutral, as do 39%. over 65 years old. 

On the left and right, less neutral treatment 

The political proximity of respondents also changes the situation: on the left, 43% estimate that the media treatment is more to the right, compared to 31% on the left, and 26% rather neutral. At the center of the political spectrum, the opinion sides with the majority of French people surveyed since 45% of them find that the French media are rather neutral. 

On the right, we also believe that it is not through the prism of its political side that information is processed since 44% of respondents to this survey believe that its treatment is more to the left, compared to 26% more to the right and finally 29% rather neutral.
