“If purchased auto parts turn out to be defective, according to the consumer protection law, you can return them and get your money back or similar, but serviceable parts. As a general rule, this can be done during the warranty period and even after its expiration, if one is intended for your purchase at all,” the organization noted.

As experts explained, demands can be presented to both the seller and the manufacturer.

“But in practice, consumers more often turn to the seller, because if there is proof of purchase, it is easier to ensure a replacement of the product or a refund,” experts emphasized.

According to them, in order to return money or exchange a purchase, you need to provide a claim describing the situation that has arisen and indicating a specific requirement, a receipt or other evidence of purchase, a passport or other identification document.

“If the seller doubts that the defect is a factory defect, he can conduct an examination. If a manufacturing defect is confirmed, the seller pays for the examination. This, of course, increases the waiting time, but if the truth is on the buyer’s side, in the end he still receives new parts or money,” the press service explained.

If you bought parts and at home realized that they are not suitable for you or have changed your mind about using them, you can also return the purchase to the store, but with reservations, the organization warned.

“In accordance with the law, you can return a quality product if it does not suit the shape, dimensions, style, color, size or configuration. Therefore, the argument that the spare part “just stopped liking” or “wasn’t needed” is not a basis for a return. In this case, the first step will not be a refund, but an exchange of the part for one that will be suitable for the reasons listed (for example, have a different configuration). And only if there is no suitable product on sale, your money will be returned,” they said.

In addition, it is worth remembering that there is a special category of so-called non-returnable goods - you cannot return them to the store if they are not defective. These include, for example, cars and motorbikes, trailers for them, numbered units (engine, engine cylinder block, chassis (frame), body (cabin) of a motor vehicle or self-propelled machine.
