This message appeared on the Embassy’s Telegram channel after diplomats suggested that Russians consider returning to their homeland amid an incident of harassment and indecent behavior on the part of staff at a hotel in Khabaraduwa.

“In connection with numerous appeals from Russian citizens regarding the incident with three girls in a hotel in Khabaraduwa, as well as in light of the embassy’s published comment, we inform you that the situation in Sri Lanka is stable and does not pose a threat to the life and health of tourists,” the embassy said .

Citizens can continue their holidays on the island, they noted.

According to the city police, a criminal case was not opened regarding the harassment of tourists from Russia by hotel employees, since the women flew out of the country.
