A massive demonstration in the Italian city of Milan in support of Palestinians in Gaza (social networking sites)

Thousands of Moroccans demonstrated in the capital, Rabat, on Sunday, in support of the Palestinian cause, and several European cities witnessed demonstrations and events in support of Gaza and against the Israeli aggression that has been ongoing for 135 days.

Moroccans demonstrated in central Rabat and carried slogans denouncing the “crimes of the Zionist occupation” and the continuation of Moroccan normalization with Israel.

The demonstrators, who came from various Moroccan cities, also carried Palestinian flags, pictures of Al-Aqsa Mosque, and a number of pictures of martyrs of the Israeli war that has been ongoing in Gaza for more than 4 months.

Moroccan human rights activist Abdel-Ilah Ben Abdel Salam told Reuters that the demonstration came at the invitation of the Moroccan Front to Support Palestine and Against Normalization, which is a civil society organization.

Abdel Salam added, "There was a broad response and large crowds from various groups of the Moroccan people who came from various Moroccan cities to express their condemnation of the continuation of war crimes, crimes of aggression, crimes of genocide and ethnic cleansing... committed by the Zionist entity against the Palestinian people."

For his part, Moroccan human rights activist Sion Acidon, of Jewish origin, told Reuters, "Today's demonstration focuses on two slogans: rejection of genocide and the starvation policy pursued by the Zionist entity, as well as denouncing the continuation of normalization despite its condemnation by all the Moroccan people."

Morocco normalized relations with Israel on December 10, 2020, with American mediation, in exchange for Washington’s recognition of the Kingdom’s sovereignty over the disputed territory of Western Sahara between Rabat and the Polisario Front since 1976.

In Europe, demonstrators gathered in the Italian city of Milan and denounced the Israeli occupation of Palestine.

In exclusive statements to Al Jazeera Net, the head of the Palestinian Gathering in Italy, Muhammad Hanoun, said that the massive demonstration that began today in Milan involved several links of the Palestinian community and dozens of Italian institutions in solidarity with the Palestinian cause, in addition to the Arab and Islamic communities.

He added that this gathering seeks to achieve several goals, including:

  • Emphasizing the necessity of providing support to the Palestinian people, whether material or moral.

  • Condemning the crimes of the Israeli occupation and genocide against citizens in the Gaza Strip.

  • Demanding the Italian government to put pressure on the Israeli occupation government and end all agreements with it.

  • The necessity of bringing the wounded for treatment and providing health and relief support to the Palestinians.

Regarding the extent of interaction with the Palestinian issue in the Italian street, Hanoun said that Italian citizens in the city of Milan constitute the majority of activities denouncing what is happening in the Gaza Strip, and there are also participants from civil society institutions, parties and institutions, then come the Arab and Islamic communities and institutions in the city of Milan.

A demonstration also took place in the Swedish city of Yitzbori in support of Palestine and Gaza, and the demonstrators chanted slogans and songs in support of the Palestinians.

Demonstrators in the Swedish city of Malmo also came out in support of the Palestinian cause and denounced the Israeli aggression against Gaza.

In the Danish capital, Copenhagen, the Danish Charitable Crescent organized a charity bazaar for the benefit of the Palestinians in Gaza.

Several demonstrations took place yesterday, Saturday, in various countries such as Turkey, Germany, Britain, Australia, the United States, South Korea, and Ireland.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving tens of thousands of civilian victims, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and massive destruction of infrastructure, which led to Tel Aviv being brought before the International Court of Justice on charges of “genocide.” ".
