The Yemeni embassy in Egypt reported - today, Sunday - the killing of the Director of the Military Industrialization Department at the Ministry of Defense, Major General Hassan bin Jalal Al-Obaidi, in the capital, Cairo.

The embassy explained - in a statement on social media platforms - that Al-Obeidi was found murdered in his apartment in Cairo, and that it is following up on the incident and has assigned specialists to communicate with all security authorities in Egypt, and to follow up on investigations to reach the truth of what it described as a “painful” incident.

At a time when Yemeni platforms and activists reacted to the news of Al-Obaidi’s killing and circulated pictures and video clips of him, Yemeni media outlets and websites reported that Al-Obaidi was found handcuffed and with several stab wounds on his body, without official confirmations.

The assassination of the Director of the Military Industrialization Department in the Ministry of Defense and the armorer manufacturer, Brigadier General Hassan Farhan bin Jalal, who was stabbed to death and handcuffed inside an apartment in Cairo confirms the extent of the betrayal and neglect to which all the honorable heroes of the National Army, leaders and individuals, are exposed. The Yemeni "Al-Masdar Online" website quoted human rights sources as saying, "The crime took place two days ago and was not discovered until his friends lost contact with him and after his apartment door was broken down."

The account of the former Yemeni Defense Minister, Lieutenant General Muhammad Ali Al-Maqdishi, on the Facebook platform, also mourned Major General Al-Obaidi.

It was not clear whether Al-Obaidi was on a medical trip or a military mission, but sources confirmed that he had visited more than one capital recently and that before his death he was preparing to travel to Turkey, according to Yemeni websites and platforms.

Yemeni journalist Muhammad Al-Salhi also described - via the X website - Al-Obaidi as “one of the most important officers specialized in the field of military manufacturing, and one of the most prominent leaders of the National Army, and he belongs to the Ubaida tribe in Ma’rib” (eastern Yemen).

He added that Al-Obaidi "during the past years moved between the battle fronts and Arab and international capitals, searching for everything that would help develop the army's equipment," and that he returned from the Jordanian capital two days before he was found murdered in his apartment in Cairo.
