On February 16, 2024 local time, Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of China and Minister of Foreign Affairs, met with US Secretary of State Blinken at request while attending the Munich Security Conference. The meeting was candid, substantive and constructive.

Wang Yi said that at the end of last year, President Xi Jinping and President Biden successfully met and exchanged in-depth views on strategic, overall and directional issues related to China-US relations and reached important consensus. The most important task for both sides at present is to follow the strategic guidance of the two heads of state, make the "San Francisco Vision" a reality, and promote the development of Sino-US relations along a healthy, stable and sustainable track. To this end, both sides must adhere to the principles of mutual respect, peaceful coexistence, and win-win cooperation, and actively explore a way for the two major countries to get along correctly. The United States should view China's development objectively and rationally, pursue a positive and pragmatic policy towards China, and implement President Biden's commitments into concrete actions.

Wang Yi emphasized that there is only one China in the world and Taiwan is part of China's territory. This is the real status quo of the Taiwan issue. What attempts to change this status quo is the connivance and support of "Taiwan independence" separatist activities and external forces. If the United States really wants stability in the Taiwan Strait, it should abide by the one-China principle and the three Sino-US joint communiques, and implement its statement of not supporting "Taiwan independence" into practice.

Wang Yi emphasized that turning "risk removal" into "de-China", building "small courtyards and high walls", and engaging in "decoupling from China" will eventually backfire on the United States itself. Wang Yi asked the United States to lift illegal unilateral sanctions on Chinese companies and individuals and not harm China's legitimate development rights.

The two sides exchanged views on carrying out people-to-people and cultural exchanges and facilitating personnel exchanges. Wang Yi urged the United States to stop unwarranted harassment and interrogation of Chinese citizens, and do more things that are conducive to enhancing mutual understanding between the two peoples. He also sent the United States an old saying: "Do not do evil because it is small, and do not do good because it is small."

The two sides discussed exchanges at all levels between the two countries in the next stage, and agreed to maintain dialogue and communication in all fields to further implement the "San Francisco Vision." He spoke positively of the work of the Sino-US Joint Anti-Drug Working Group and looked forward to positive results from the recent high-level meeting between the law enforcement agencies of the two countries. Continue to promote dialogue and consultation on foreign policy, Asia-Pacific affairs, maritime affairs, and artificial intelligence, and maintain communication between the two militaries.

The two sides also exchanged views on the Ukraine crisis, the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, the Korean Peninsula and other regional hotspot issues, and agreed to maintain contact between the two sides' special envoys on peninsula affairs.
