“It is difficult to imagine what danger in the ranks of the Armed Forces of Ukraine will be posed by those who were convicted of violating traffic rules when the consequences were unintended, or those who, for example, committed a corruption violation,” TASS quotes him.

According to the minister, if arming prisoners with machine guns is too risky, they can be given shovels.

Malyuska added that “we can safely mobilize” at least 50 thousand people with a criminal record.

Earlier, the first deputy head of the national police, Maxim Tsutskiridze, said that conditionally convicted draft dodgers are still subject to conscription into the Armed Forces of Ukraine.

Tsutskiridze also noted that in 2022, Ukrainian courts issued 250 verdicts on evasion from the army, in 2023 - about 300.
