In a civil case in which Trump and others were sued on charges that a company run by former U.S. President Donald Trump had inflated the company's asset value and obtained illegal profits, a New York state court ruled against Trump and others. He ordered a payment of approximately 53.2 billion yen in Japanese yen.

The lawsuit was filed by the attorney general of New York, alleging that a real estate company run by Trump before he became president had earned illegal profits by inflating the value of the company's assets over a period of about 10 years. The company is seeking restitution of approximately $370 million from Mr. Trump and others.

Trump has argued that he has not profited from any ill-gotten gains.

In this case, a judgment was made in September last year that Mr. Trump and others had lied about the value of the company's assets, and the focus was on the amount the court would order them to pay.

On the 16th, a New York state court ordered Trump and others to pay $354.9 million, or approximately 53.2 billion yen.

It also bars Trump from serving as an officer or director of any New York company for three years.

Mr. Trump told reporters in front of his home in Florida on the 16th that he intended to appeal, claiming, ``This whole thing is a witch hunt by Mr. Biden against his political opponents.''

Mr. Trump is leading the opposition Republican Party nomination race for this fall's presidential election, and in addition to this civil trial, he has been charged with four criminal cases and is scheduled to go to trial.
