On Saturday, Iran announced two local systems, one for anti-ballistic missiles and the other for low-altitude air defense.

Iranian television reported that the "Arman" anti-ballistic missile system and the "Azarakhsh" low-altitude air defense system were unveiled.

Defense Minister Mohammad Reza Ashtiani said, at the ceremony introducing the two systems in Tehran: “Today, two major achievements in the field of the Iranian defense industry are being unveiled.”

Ashtiani pointed out that the Arman system is a medium-range, high-altitude operational system that can identify targets at a distance of 180 kilometers and engage them and destroy them at a distance of 120 kilometers.

He pointed out that this system is very flexible and ready for operation in less than 3 minutes and provides reliable cover to defend the country, according to him.

Regarding the Azarakhsh system, the Minister of Defense said that it is capable of monitoring and destroying targets at low altitudes up to a distance of 50 kilometers with 4 missiles ready to be launched.

The announcement came amid escalating tensions in the region, as Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi group carried out a series of attacks on ships linked to the United States, the United Kingdom and Israel in the Red Sea in a show of solidarity with the Gaza Strip.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip, leaving tens of thousands of civilian casualties, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and massive infrastructure destruction.
