Speaking during the Munich Security Conference, Blinken also highlighted the “urgent necessity” to move forward with the establishment of a Palestinian state that also guarantees Israel’s security, as he put it.

Blinken added that the two-state solution must be resolved in a way that guarantees Israel's security through commitments that achieve this, noting that Israel must reduce the harm to civilians in the war in Gaza and allow aid to arrive.

Since October 7, 2023, Israel has been waging a devastating war on the Gaza Strip that has left tens of thousands of civilian victims, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and massive destruction of infrastructure, which led to Tel Aviv being brought before the International Court of Justice on charges of “genocide.” Collective.”

On the other hand, Blinken pointed out that Iran is the greatest threat to the security of Israel and all of us and must be isolated along with its agents, he said.

Munich Conference

The 60th session of the Munich Security Conference kicked off on Friday, with the participation of a number of heads of state and government, ministers and senior officials from a large number of countries, as well as a number of heads of international organizations and thought leaders.

The main issues of the conference this year are the Russian-Ukrainian war, tension in the Middle East, and Europe's role in the world.

On the other hand, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen said that she will present a proposal for a defense strategy within 3 weeks, and will also open a defense innovation office in Ukraine.

“Europe must strengthen its industrial base,” von der Leyen added at the Munich conference. “I firmly support NATO, and at the same time we must build a strong and cooperative Europe.”

She said the proposal aims to increase defense spending and “spend better” through joint procurement and agreements to provide predictability for industry and improve interoperability between European armed forces.

On the other hand, in a speech he delivered during the Munich Conference, Chinese Foreign Minister Wang Yi said that his country would be a "stabilizing force" in the world.

"Regardless of changes in the international situation, China, as a responsible major country, will always maintain the continuity and stability of its core policy, and firmly remain a force for stability in a turbulent world," Wang said.

Wang added that Beijing will not allow the humanitarian crisis in Gaza to continue, noting that generations of Palestinian people have been displaced and unable to return to their homes to this day. Emphasizing the two-state solution, and then Israel can achieve its security, he said.
