Takashi Yamazaki, director of ``Godzilla-1.0,'' which was nominated for the Academy Award for Visual Effects, the most prestigious award in the American film industry, gave a lecture in Hollywood, USA, and talked about the behind-the-scenes of the production.

More than 100 people, including local film professionals, attended the talk show held on the 16th in Hollywood, Los Angeles.

``Godzilla-1.0'' depicts Godzilla ruthlessly destroying a post-war city in the process of being rebuilt with powerful visuals, and has been nominated for Best Visual Effects at the Academy Awards to be announced next month.

Director Yamazaki spoke at the beginning about the nomination, saying, ``I'm in a happy state of confusion. Even if people say it's a dream right now, I feel like, ``It's true.''

He also introduced the behind-the-scenes aspects of the production, including the use of a method to expand a small set with digital technology, and explained why he was nominated, saying, ``I think it was because we worked hard even though we had no money. In the past, when there was no CG, it was handmade.'' There were a lot of parts about it, so I think people voted for it out of nostalgia."

On the other hand, when asked by an audience member about the use of generative AI, he answered, ``I've tried using it several times, but it ends up being something I've seen somewhere before.'' That's what I think," he said.

The Academy Awards are scheduled to be announced on the 10th of next month, and Director Yamazaki said, ``I feel lucky to have been nominated, so I'm looking forward to it.''
