According to Washington, Russia has likely spent up to $211 billion on its war against Ukraine. The sum includes direct financial costs for equipping, deploying and sustaining Russian military operations in Ukraine, said a senior US Defense Department official. Arms deals lost as a result of the war have so far cost Russia ten billion dollars.

According to information, at least 315,000 Russian soldiers have been killed or wounded in the fighting in Ukraine. US Vice President Kamala Harris also mentioned this number in her speech at the Munich Security Conference on Friday. In terms of lost potential economic growth, the war could even cost Russia $1.3 trillion if one extrapolates how the Russian economy could have grown from the start of the war to 2026.

Kremlin boss Putin ordered a large-scale invasion of Ukraine almost two years ago, on February 24, 2022, to bring the neighboring country under Russian control. Ukraine is defending itself as best it can and is dependent on arms and financial aid from European states, the USA and other democratic countries around the world.
