This coming Monday, February 19,

Metro de Madrid

will begin

the renovation works at the

Santiago Bernabéu

station , with the aim of reforming and modernizing the stop that serves the white club's stadium. There will be 38 months of work with a budget of 66 million euros. The design will be inspired by the Madrid field and the history of the team. And it should be ready in the first quarter of 2027.

The Ministry of Housing, Transport and Infrastructure is going to carry out a reform that includes different actions such as increasing its surface area, which will triple its current size, going from

4,843 square meters to more than 12,400

.

Thanks to the complete redesign, the corridors will be replaced by a large lobby, from which the intermediate levels and the platforms themselves will be viewed, responding more effectively to passenger traffic, especially high on show days, according to the area directed by the counselor. Jorge Rodrigo.

Traffic will be affected by partial cuts,

initially on the Castellana service road

, on the side of the Congress Palace. The impact on the center lanes will be gradual and subsequent, as the project progresses.

In 2023, the Bernabéu counted

more than 4.3 million tickets

, exceeding 25,000 users on matchdays. Predictably, this influx will increase with the remodeling of the Madrid venue, which also seeks to become a benchmark for the organization of cultural, leisure and entertainment events. From April, concerts will begin in the renovated venue.

Likewise, within the framework of the suburban Accessibility and Inclusion Plan, the project includes the installation of 12 new elevators and 24 escalators. Likewise, the renovation of the architectural finishes and the incorporation of all technological advances, such as entry turnstiles and state-of-the-art title sales machines, are planned. At the same time as Metro, Real Madrid will begin work on the first of the two public car parks planned for the stadium renovation.
