Patrushev accused the West of planning to create a state of instability in Central Asia and the South Caucasus (French-Archive)

Secretary General of the Russian National Security Council, Nikolai Patrushev, said on Thursday that Israel's actions have led to a humanitarian catastrophe for two million Palestinians in the Gaza Strip.

Patrushev added in his speech during a meeting of Security Council secretaries on Afghan issues in the Kyrgyz capital, Bishkek, that the actions committed by Israel have destabilized the Middle East.

Relations between Moscow and Tel Aviv are witnessing tension in light of the Russian positions denouncing the Israeli war on Gaza that has been ongoing for more than 4 months.

On another topic, the Secretary-General of the Russian National Security Council accused the United States and Britain of trying to drag countries in the region into the conflict in Yemen, in reference to the strikes that Washington and London have been carrying out for weeks against Houthi targets to force them to stop targeting ships in the Red Sea.

The Russian official also accused the West of planning to create instability in Central Asia and the South Caucasus and obstruct the settlement of the conflict between Armenia and Azerbaijan.

Patrushev said that the West is "wreaking havoc in different regions of the world" in order to maintain its dominance.

It is noteworthy that Russia has repeatedly accused the West of trying to inflict a strategic defeat on it by supplying weapons to Ukraine.
