The Israeli occupation army said today, Friday, that the forces of two reserve brigades are conducting training to raise their readiness on the northern front, and to prepare to engage in what it called combat in winter weather conditions.

The Israeli army added that in conjunction with this, the Golani Brigade forces began this week the process of raising their readiness on the northern front, in reference to Lebanon, noting that the exercises simulate battles in the northern border terrain, amid difficult weather conditions.

This comes amid escalating threats by Israeli officials to expand attacks on Lebanese territory unless Lebanese Hezbollah fighters withdraw away from the border with northern Israel.

The Israeli army said, in a statement, that the exercises included “a joint exercise of armored forces, engineering infantry, and artillery on mountainous terrain and vehicles, practicing camouflage techniques, and fighting in the open area, as well as transporting the wounded amid harsh weather conditions.”

He pointed out that, "As part of the ongoing preparations in the region, an assessment of the situation was conducted earlier this week, headed by the Commander of the Northern Region, Uri Gordin, at the Ramat David Air Force Base."

For more than 4 months, Israel has launched an aggression against the Gaza Strip that has left tens of thousands of civilians martyred and wounded, most of them children and women, in addition to an unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe and massive destruction of infrastructure, which led to Tel Aviv being brought before the International Court of Justice on charges of genocide.

With the start of that war, the Israeli army on the one hand, and Hezbollah and Palestinian factions in Lebanon on the other hand, exchanged attacks on a limited scale, while international warnings escalated of the danger of the matter expanding into an open confrontation between Israel and Lebanon.
