A new opinion poll in Britain revealed a shift in public opinion towards a broader rejection of the Israeli war that has been ongoing on the Gaza Strip for more than 4 months, and greater sympathy for the Palestinians.

The results of the poll conducted by YouGov showed that 66% of Britons believe that Israel should cease fire in Gaza, an increase of 7% compared to last November.

The results also showed an increase in the number of Britons who sympathize with the Palestinians by 7% to 28%, and a decrease in the number of those who sympathize with Israel by 2% to 16%, while 22% said that the Palestinian and Israeli sides are equal in their view, a 9% decline from what was the case 3 months ago. .

According to the poll, the percentage of those who believe in the possibility of reaching permanent peace between the Palestinians and Israelis within 10 years has increased to 32% from 27% last November.

The results showed that a large majority of Britons (65%) support the "two-state solution" as the only way to achieve lasting peace, while 24% expressed the opposite position.

Since the start of the war on Gaza, Britain has witnessed massive demonstrations denouncing Israel and in solidarity with the Palestinians. On the other hand, the position of Prime Minister Rishi Sunak's government remains supportive of Tel Aviv, under the pretext that it is defending itself, even though London recently raised the possibility of recognizing a Palestinian state.
