The Ministry of Health in the Gaza Strip announced the death of 3 patients in the intensive care department of the Nasser Medical Complex as a result of the cessation of oxygen due to a power outage in the complex, while the Israeli occupation forces continue to besiege hundreds inside it.

Yesterday, Thursday, the occupation forces stormed the Nasser Medical Complex in Khan Yunis, south of the Gaza Strip, after weeks of tight siege, targeting its buildings, and sniping at individuals inside, and turned it into a military barracks. The complex administration was forced to detain about 400 people in an old building, including medical personnel, patients, and displaced people.

The Ministry issued an urgent appeal to all international institutions to quickly intervene to save patients and medical staff in the complex, after the electrical generators stopped working completely, with fears of the death of patients in intensive care rooms and children in the nursery.

The Ministry held the Israeli occupation army responsible for the lives of patients and medical staff, considering that the complex is now under its full control.

She stressed that the occupation forces arrested hundreds of displaced people, patients, and medical staff and took them to an unknown destination. They also expelled thousands of displaced people and doctors from the hospital and forced them to head towards the city of Rafah.

In turn, Ravina Shamdasani, spokeswoman for the United Nations Human Rights Office, said that she was deeply concerned about reports that Israeli forces stormed the Nasser Medical Complex in the southern Gaza Strip.

She added that medical facilities are considered protected infrastructure under international humanitarian law and should not be the target of attack.

She explained that Israel, as the occupying power, has a duty to ensure the safety of medical facilities and services in all the occupied Palestinian territories, including the Gaza Strip.

It revealed that the United Nations Human Rights Office documented similar raids in Gaza City, North Gaza, Central Gaza, and Khan Yunis, with dire consequences for the safety of patients, medical staff, and civilians.

Since January 22, the occupation army has launched a series of intense air and artillery raids on Khan Yunis, and in the vicinity of the hospitals there, amid a ground advance of its vehicles in the southern and western areas of the city, which prompted thousands of Palestinians to flee the city.
