The Director of Nursing at the Gaza European Hospital in Khan Yunis, Dr. Saleh Al-Hams, said on Thursday that the condition of our colleague Al Jazeera correspondent, Ismail Abu Omar, requires his transfer outside the Gaza Strip to complete treatment.

Al-Hams added in a statement to Al Jazeera that the condition of the reporter, who was seriously injured two days ago as a result of an Israeli raid, requires his transfer abroad in light of the lack of medical capabilities and supplies in the Gaza Strip.

The health condition of colleague Ismail Abu Omar had deteriorated after renewed bleeding in his left leg, noting that his right leg was amputated as a result of the Israeli bombing.

Doctors at the European Hospital (southeast of Khan Yunis) performed a second emergency surgery on the injured colleague to stop the bleeding, and he also needs an additional blood transfusion as a result of the continued bleeding.

Al Jazeera correspondent Ismail Abu Omar and photojournalist Ahmed Matar were injured on Tuesday in the bombing of an Israeli march on the Mirage area, north of Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

Doctors describe Matar's condition as dangerous, and he is now lying in the intensive care room on artificial respirators after shrapnel was surgically removed from his head.
