As TASS recalls, the organizers refused Currentzis’s performance at the request of the head of the Kyiv Symphony Orchestra Olga Lyniv.

“Let me remind you that with regard to the Wiener Festwochen, which will be held in June, it was also about the performance of Benjamin Britten’s war requiem by the German SWR orchestra under the direction of Currentzis - the very idea of blocking such a project seems very symptomatic. In this way, both their own dignity and the interests of the discerning Viennese public are hurt,” said the Russian diplomat.

The ambassador described the situation with the phrase “The tail began to wag the dog.” This state of affairs does not benefit Vienna’s reputation in any way, Lyubinsky emphasized.

The day before, the Vienna Festival canceled Currentzis' concert after a demand from Ukrainian musician Oksana Lyniv.

On January 25, the Ukrainian Foreign Ministry spoke out against the participation of Serbian-Russian actor Milos Bikovic in the third season of the HBO series “White Lotus.” As stated in Kyiv, Bikovich is a Serbian actor who supports Russia.

Instead, Bulgarian actor Julian Kostov was cast in the series.
