The Kremlin representative commented on the fact that in some media his statements on February 14 on the topic of the duration of the special operation were presented as statements about allegedly delaying the deadlines for the military defense.

“We need to look at the full text. Your respected media give a lot of fake news, taking something out of context,” Peskov said.

According to him, on February 14 he was asked about the results of the special operation in Ukraine for almost two years, to which he replied that the SVO continues. Peskov explained that the Northern Military District “began as an operation against Ukraine with specific goals, but it continues in fact as a war with the collective West and the North Atlantic Alliance.”

“It may last longer than it otherwise would because of this, but it cannot change the meaning and cannot change the final results of this operation. She will achieve her goals. That’s what was said,” Peskov explained.

Earlier, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Russia is ready to move to a political and diplomatic settlement of the conflict in Ukraine, this should happen on the basis of taking into account the “realities on the ground.”

At the same time, he noted that options for holding negotiations to resolve the situation in Ukraine are not yet visible due to the reluctance of Kyiv and the West to take into account Russian interests and realities on the ground.
