According to Keridis, who spoke on Skai, the West approves of such trends, while Russia fights them. In particular, he noted the role of the Russian Orthodox Church in protecting family values.

As TASS clarifies, the discussion was held in connection with a bill on marriage of same-sex couples and the adoption of children being discussed in the Greek parliament. It is expected that the bill could soon be passed by the main legislative body, although the Holy Synod of the Greek Orthodox Church has unanimously spoken out against the marriage of same-sex couples and the adoption of children by them. The hierarchs, in particular, stated that “homosexuality is a deviation from the law of God.”

The Russian Orthodox Church noted that the ban on the LGBT movement in Russia, as well as its recognition as an extremist organization, is nothing more than a form of moral self-defense of society.

* LGBT organization is recognized as extremist, its activities are prohibited in Russia by decision of the Supreme Court of November 30, 2023.
