Al Jazeera Media Network expressed its rejection of the Israeli occupation army's attempts to justify the killing and targeting of journalists.

The network denounced the accusations against its journalists, recalling "the long record of Israeli lies and fabrication of evidence through which Israel seeks to hide its heinous crimes."

Al Jazeera Media Network confirmed - in a statement - that "while its correspondents and field crews make great sacrifices to convey the picture of what is happening in Gaza, its approved employment policies and regulations stipulate that the employee should stay away from political affiliations that may affect his performance."

She added that its policy also requires that its employees adhere to the controls and directives contained in the Network’s Charter of Professional Honor and its Manual of Professional Conduct, and that it also ensures that all journalists and correspondents working for it adhere to its editorial standards.

The network recalled the systematic targeting of Al Jazeera by the Israeli authorities, which included bombing its office in Gaza twice, assassinating its correspondent Sherine Abu Aqla, and colleagues Samer Abu Daqqa and Hamza al-Dahdouh, deliberately targeting a number of its journalists and their family members, and arresting and intimidating its crews in the field.

In light of the unprecedented Israeli campaign to target journalists, Al Jazeera urged the international media to exercise the utmost caution and responsibility when dealing with the allegations of the Israeli occupation army to justify its crimes against journalists in Gaza.

Two days ago, Al Jazeera correspondent, colleague Ismail Abu Omar, and colleague photographer Ahmed Matar were injured in Rafah, south of the Gaza Strip.

The Director of Nursing at the Gaza European Hospital in Khan Yunis, Dr. Saleh Al-Hams, said on Thursday that Abu Omar’s condition requires his transfer outside the Gaza Strip to complete treatment, in light of the lack of medical capabilities and supplies.

The health condition of colleague Ismail Abu Omar had deteriorated after renewed bleeding in his left leg, noting that his right leg was amputated as a result of the Israeli bombing.

Fifth targeting

This is the fifth Israeli targeting of Al Jazeera employees and their families during their coverage of war events in the Gaza Strip.

Last October 25, Israeli aircraft bombed a house to which the family of Al Jazeera correspondent Wael Al-Dahdouh was displaced in the Nuseirat camp (central Gaza Strip), killing his wife, two of his sons, and his granddaughter.

On December 11, Israeli fighters bombed the home of the same channel’s correspondent, Anas Al-Sharif, in the Jabalia Palestinian refugee camp in the northern Gaza Strip, killing his father.

On the 15th of the same month, the channel’s camera journalist in Gaza, Samer Abu Daqqa, was killed, and the channel’s correspondent, Wael Al-Dahdouh, was injured by an Israeli bombing in the Gaza Strip.

On January 7, the Israeli army killed fellow journalist Hamza (son of Wael Al-Dahdouh), along with his fellow reporter, Mustafa Thuraya, when it targeted a car they were traveling in in Gaza.
