According to Israeli reports, high-ranking Hezbollah commander Ali Muhammad Aldbas was killed in a targeted air strike on Wednesday evening in the Lebanese town of Nabatieh. Security sources said he had already been targeted and injured in an Israeli attack a week earlier. He was ultimately killed in the attack on Wednesday.

His deputy Ibrahim Issa also fell victim to the air strike. Aldbas is responsible for a bomb attack in northern Israel last year. Since the outbreak of the Gaza war, he has been involved in fighting in the Israeli-Lebanese border area.

Seven civilians killed

The number of deaths from the attack rose to ten. According to Lebanese information, a total of three Hezbollah fighters and seven civilians were killed. The Israeli army said on Wednesday that a female soldier had been killed in an attack on Israel from Lebanon.

Since the start of the war between Israel and the radical Islamic Hamas on October 7th, the clashes on the Israeli-Lebanese border have increased massively. Hezbollah, which is allied with Hamas, regularly attacks Israeli army positions. Israel responded by attacking Hezbollah positions in southern Lebanon. This is fueling fears of further escalation in the region.
