These aerial photographs document the moment the shots are fired. Thousands of Kansas City Chiefs fans who had been peacefully cheering on their Super Bowl winners at the mandatory victory parade in their hometown are panicking. An eyewitness reports.

Everyone started running. There was a shout. We didn't know what was going on, but these days when people run, you run. So I put my hands around her and we tried to push through so people wouldn't rush towards us. There was a woman crying and saying that someone had been shot.

The team had already left the parade at this point. The celebrations in honor of the new and old Super Bowl winner were actually slowly coming to an end - when the shots were fired. The exuberant mood turned into pure horror.

Stacey Graves, Kansas City Police Chief:

»Officers were on the scene immediately, took two people into custody and immediately provided life support to the victims. We are still in the process of gathering information about the number and condition of the victims. But as I said, we know one of the victims is deceased.”

How many perpetrators there were, what their motive was or what other backgrounds there were - that is unclear at this point. The stars of the Kansas City Chiefs were shocked by the violence. Travis Kelce wrote at X.
