Eyewitnesses reported that a young Palestinian man was killed by Israeli army gunfire in the Nasser Medical Complex in the city of Khan Yunis in the southern Gaza Strip. The young man was sent by the army to notify the displaced people inside the hospital of the need to evacuate it.

Witnesses explained that the Israeli soldiers dressed the young man in a white garment similar to a coronavirus prevention uniform and tied his hands, then put a yellow mark on his head to distinguish him and follow him.

They pointed out that the young man returned to the soldiers after delivering the message to the displaced people inside the hospital, where the soldiers shot and killed him before he reached them.

Video clips spread across social media platforms showing the Palestinian wearing the distinctive white dress, notifying the displaced people to evacuate the hospital, while leaving the place.

But later, other video clips were circulated showing the young man's death as a result of being shot by the Israeli army.

The Israeli forces had asked the hospital administration to evacuate the displaced and keep only patients and medical personnel, according to a previous statement from Palestinian Ministry of Health spokesman Ashraf Al-Qudra.

Regarding the Israeli army’s request to evacuate the hospital, the Islamic Resistance Movement (Hamas) considered this request a threat to commit a crime against the displaced people inside it.

In the same context, the Ministry of Health in Gaza announced yesterday evening, Tuesday, that a number of displaced people were killed and wounded by Israeli fire as they were leaving Nasser Hospital.

On Sunday, the Director-General of the World Health Organization, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus - in a tweet on the “X” platform - expressed his deep concern about the situation in and around the Nasser Medical Complex, which is besieged by Israeli forces.

The UN official stressed the need to protect the health sector at all times, and to reach a ceasefire agreement.

Since January 22, the Israeli army has launched a series of intense air and artillery raids on Khan Yunis and the area surrounding the city's hospitals, amid ground advances by its vehicles in the southern and western areas, prompting thousands of Palestinians to flee the city.

Since the "Al-Aqsa Flood", Israel has been waging a devastating war on Gaza, which as of yesterday resulted in the death of 28,473 Palestinians and the injury of 68,146 others, most of them children and women. This war also caused massive destruction of infrastructure, leaving an “unprecedented humanitarian catastrophe,” according to Palestinian and international reports.
