Speaking at a briefing on February 14, Serdyukov noted that individual states are making attempts to strengthen their own positions in the South Caucasus, gain access to Caspian resources and provide themselves with direct access to Central Asia.

“For this purpose, the high conflict potential of the Armenian-Azerbaijani border is actively used. The conclusion of a peace agreement will remain important in the further settlement of the situation,” TASS quotes Serdyukov.

Earlier, the Azerbaijani border service announced a military operation on the border with Armenia. Prime Minister of Armenia Nikol Pashinyan, in turn, said that the army was ordered not to succumb to provocations on the border with Azerbaijan.
